Welcome to Stacked Stone Cellars Winery


Stacked Stone Cellars is a world class Paso Robles winery, specializing in award winning red wine blends.  Owner and wine maker, Donald Thiessen began making wine and creating unique red wine blends in 1998 when he planted his Zinfandel estate vineyard on the west side of Paso Robles. Cabernet, Cab Franc, Merlot, Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre, Petit Verdot, and Zinfandel grapes are hand crafted at the winery to create the award wining red wine blends that Stacked Stone Cellars winery is famous for.

The Zinfandel grape vines in our estate vineyard produce low yields of highly concentrated, jammy, and intense Zinfandel grapes. The grape vines are sustainably dry farmed and head pruned on the west side Paso Robles, where the soils are rich in minerals and nutrients. The soil is calcareous and siliceous, composed of shale, mudstone, siltstone and limestone which provides the optimum terroir for Stacked Stone Cellar's Zinfandel grapes.  Once the Zinfandel grapes reach maturity, the grapes are then gently harvested to produce our flagship and award wining red wine the "Zin Stone", a Paso Robles Zinfandel.

We work closely with other sustainable grape growers on the west side of Paso Robles and purchase Cabernet, Cab Franc, Merlot, Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre and Petit Verdot grapes of the highest quality.   We hand select all the wine grapes to be used in our red wine blends and gently harvest and hand craft the wine at the winery. Stacked Stone Cellars winery  produces an award wining Rhone blend, a Bordeaux blend, as well as a Rhone style Rose, and a Madera region style Port.

Enjoy the cool ambiance of our tasting room while you learn about our specific vineyard to bottle approach. As you taste our delectable wines, you can look around at the barrels that are gently ripening our next vintages, enjoy our vintage posters and art, and of course, meet Donald himself. Plan on enjoying our beautiful picnic area under the ancient oaks with a bottle of Stacked Stone Cellars wine with your picnic!
